Edgewater Incoming Athletes

We are excited to have you and your son/daughter as a new member of the Edgewater High School Football family! We know your athlete's journey to becoming an Edgewater Eagle has been a process and now that they're here, it can be a lot to handle. With so many different teams within our program, new coaches, and somewhat demanding schedule, a lot to process transitioning from the Youth Football/Pop Warner level to the High School level can be daunting. You may be wondering where your athlete is supposed to start. We are here to provide you with all necessary information you'll need; from how to register, sports physicals, what equipment needs to be purchased, and every other question in between.

Rising Freshmen:
Athletes coming from the 8th grade to the 9th grade are classified as "Rising Freshmen". They're not quite in High School, but they've completed Middle School and are allowed to begin working out with the High School they're enrolled in. During this time, they'll be able to join Edgewater's Football program, but will only be invited to train during select. Immediately after your athlete's 8th grade school year is complete, you're welcome to join any workouts that are taking place at the Edgewater.
Transfer Students:
Once you have completed the enrollment process for your incoming athlete into Edgewater High School they'll be allowed to participate and workout with the rest of the team. Depending on when your incoming athlete actually enrolled, they may or may not be authorized to compete alongside the team during games.
Off-Season Camps:
Head Coaches like an athlete who hustles and puts their best foot forward during their off-season training. As a high level football program, Edgewater not only aims to perform during the pre-, regular, and post-season, but also during the off-season. Your incoming athlete more than likely will arrive during the early part of Summer Workouts and this will be their introduction into the Edgewater Football Program but our off-season program begins with Spring Camp.
During Summer workouts, there's a major emphasis on strength and conditioning. Your athlete can plan to learn the proper techniques of weightlifting and begin integrating with the other potential teammates.
Summer Workouts lead into Fall Camp, also known as Pre-Season camp. These final couple weeks of the off-season allow the coaches to determine which players will play on which teams (e.g. Freshman, JV, or Varsity). If you're a rising freshman and the coaches haven't identified you as one of the very rare freshmen who are selected to compete with the varsity team, you'll begin Fall Camp on the first day of school (Aug 10, 2022).
